DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHODONTICS AND CROWN & BRIDGE
Prosthodontics is that branch of dentistry pertaining to restoration and maintenance of oral function ,comfort , appearance and health of the patient by the restoration of natural teeth and replacement of missing teeth and craniofacial tissue with artificial substitutes.
Department of prosthodontics deals with a wide array of problems encountered such as edentulism, partial loss of teeth, jaw and joint problem, crippling loss of craniofacial structures and are treated using modalities such as complete dentures, fixed prosthesis, maxillofacial prosthesis and dental and maxillofacial implants to name a few.
VISION AND MISSION
- To develop individuality into dentists who are just not individuals who are professionally trained but also high in professionally ethical and moral values, imparting profound integrity and character to every endeavor that deals with not only our institution but also the society at large.
- Our current focus for inculcating research oriented future dental professionals is on the less explored but much needed aspects of preventive prosthodontics.
GOALS OF THE DEPARTMENT
- The prosthodontics program aims to provide basic and advanced education in prosthodontics for an improved understanding of prosthetic rehabilitation and restoration of tooth structures.
- To increase cognitive skills in management of geriatric and general patients.
- To transform the nature of dental education and proceed in ways that will dramatically improve the way we serve our students , our patients and the surrounding community .
